What is better than celebrating your first birthday with your favorite person and some good cake - all for yourself!?
For this Mommy + Me Cake Smash session we met at Walter Y. Elisha Park in Fort Mill SC, just outside of Charlotte NC. The beauty of this park is not just it’s variety of brick walls, and tall brown grass, but it has this beautiful open field with lots of space to make all the photo ideas come to life. It was supposed to be a hot sunny afternoon, but luckily we got some overcast skies which kept the temperatures just perfect.

Not just his first birthday, but also his connection to his most favorite and loving person. His Momma. Originally, we planned this to be just a family session, but after having to postpone it for a few months, the Mommy + Me session turned into a Mommy + Me + cake smash session. Perfectly on time for his first birthday coming up. He is such a sweet kid. He must get that from his mom 😉 From the little time we had together, I was blown away by our conversations. She is a young loving mom, who, besides life’s challenges, keeps working harder every day. Besides being a single mom, she also works and goes to school! That’s a lot! In Germany I would now say, I take my hat off to her. Do Americans have a saying like that? Like, I bow my head for her? Basically, I have a lot of respect for her! 😀
